COVID-19 Update from I CAN PT Doctors of Physical Therapy

As a precautionary measure, we’d like to offer some recommendations and information about coronavirus (COVID-19) as it relates to your care. Please read through the following FAQ and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

What are the symptoms?
Symptoms of coronavirus include:

  • Fever
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we ask that you contact your primary care physician for further advice. In the meantime, as a courtesy to your therapist, our clinic staff, and your fellow patients, please do not come into the clinic at this time. Instead, please contact us to reschedule your future appointments—even if it’s last-minute—by calling 208-789-0200.

I’m only feeling a little sick. What should I do?
While it may be tempting to come in for your treatment if you “just have a cough,” we do ask that you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling at all sick. In the meantime (and if your strength allows), continue with your prescribed home exercise program, and reach out to your therapist via phone or in-app messaging if you have any questions.

What is I CAN PT doing during the pandemic?

  • Though we clean equipment regularly already, we are continuously ensuring that all equipment is clean after one patient uses equipment, before the next patient uses it.
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays we are devoting part of the day to another deep clean, on top of the regular cleaning between patients.
  • We are reducing patient load per hour.
  • We are having the carpets professionally sanitized
  • We are using ‘Pestcom’ to sanitize the whole clinic. They are a local micro-sanitation company which uses anti-viral sanitation mist to neutralize open spaces.
  • If any staff member develops a new illness, we are requiring them to stay home.

We appreciate your willingness to help us with this matter. If you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask us.

Wishing you good health,

The I CAN PT Team

Balance and the Vestibular System

A few weeks ago our physical therapist, Charles Riddle, took part in a podcast hosted by Dr. Chad Woolner and Dr. Buddy Allen from the Align Integrated Medical Clinic. You can view this podcast directly through their website or click on the link below to listen.

You may think that balance and the vestibular system is not exciting or important, but we rely on this function in most moments of our lives. Imagine what it would be like waking up one morning to turn off your alarm clock, and the whole room spins. What do you do? Hold onto dear life hoping you aren’t going crazy? Contrary to how you may feel, this symptom of vertigo, commonly called BPPV for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, can be treated with some guided maneuvers by a therapist.

Curious now? There is a whole slew of things to consider with balance other than vertigo. Click the video and find out!

Enjoy!

Welcome!

Hello Everyone! Welcome to our first blog post since we moved to our new beautiful website!

For those of you who don’t know us, we are a locally owned, outpatient physical therapy clinic in Meridian, Idaho. We opened our doors December 2014 and have been going strong ever since. We see patients from all age ranges and from all walks of life, all with various levels of physical ailments. In any given day we see veterans with past wounds and athletes with new injuries.

Our version of therapy is much more than typical exercises. Each person’s physical body is different and responds to treatment differently from the next person who may have the same condition. We do our best to tailor each person’s treatment based on their medical history and their capabilities.

And we get it, physical therapy is NOT FUN, so we make sure that when our patients are here we give them our best smiles. On top of it all we sing, we dance, and we have plenty of shenanigans to go around!

Hopefully you will never need physical therapy, but if by chance you know someone who could benefit from it, take a look around our page and see what it’s all about. If after pursuing our page you’re still not sure if therapy will work we can schedule a consultation with our therapist to help give some direction.
